About Us
We are students impacted by immigration, undocumented, DACAmented, AB540, UndocuQueer, UndocuAPI, Black Undocumented students at Cerritos College leading, creating and advocating for policy change for generations to come. Immigrants came to this country in search of a better life and oftentimes to escape the violence, poverty, and bad living conditions they faced in their native countries. The U.S. is home to dreamers. Throughout history, DREAMers have been identified as young people pursuing higher education and most recently those that have DACA. We, Immigrant Student Alliance, also want to acknowledge those that do not meet the DREAMer requirements and are still pursuing their dreams. Immigration impacted students at Cerritos College want to have an opportunity for affordable education that all other Americans benefit from and have the same rights as they have. We believe that all people deserve to be respected and treated with dignity deserving of human beings. We believe that no one should be deprived of this because of their ethnicity, race, religion, social class, age, disability, and/or sexual orientation. As a club we are here, “to empower students through education, bring awareness, and guide the campus in order to achieve equality in higher education.”
